Q Groups are to submit final, formal, edited, and viewable presentations by Presentation length: 16 to 18 minutes Point value: 75 points Layout of Presentation: The purpose of this presentation is to present your group’s movie analysis findings. All group members must participate in the presentation equally. If absent the day your group presents, you will not receive credit for the presentation. The following areas reflected in the analysis paper must be included in your oral presentation: • Introduction – This portion should follow a similar format as you did for your paper. Once you have clearly stated your introduction, move into your strengths section using a clear transition. Power Point slides – One title and one introduction slide (2 slides). • Strengths – Each of the four strengths discussed in your paper should be addressed in your presentation. Make sure to clearly transition into the weaknesses and suggestions section once the strength section is complete. Power Point slides – one slide per strength should be included in the presentation (4 slides) • Weaknesses and Suggestions- Your paper should reflect four weaknesses and four suggestions, and your presentation should do the same. Once you have completed this section, clearly transition to the conclusion section of the presentation. Power Point slides – at least one slide per weakness and one slide per suggestion (8 slides). • Conclusion – This should reflect the conclusion in your paper. Power Point Slides – two slides total (2 slides). Additional Guidelines/Requirements • Brief clips from the movie being analyzed should be used in the presentation, but remember merely showing video clips is not acceptable. There must be considerable analysis of the movie tied directly to course material. A maximum of three minutes of clips total is allowed for the presentation, so choose your clips carefully). o Include in Presentation Submission, the Slide Presentation as a separate Document. • This presentation should be practiced and polished. • Presentations should be given extemporaneously from brief notes and not from a manuscript. o Groups are to show that they worked with the Speech Center to do this. • Oral Competency is assessed for these presentations: o Students are to stand up for their delivery. o The camera needs to be set to capture the student from waist up. o Eye contact is to be made with the audience (aka camera). o Transitions between speakers need to be clear and each speaker needs to be introduced. Grading Criteria Organization (20 points) • The presentation should flow smoothly between sections and speakers. • The video clips need to be handled effectively. • There should be a relatively even distribution of responsibility among group members. Content/Analysis (30 points) • The analysis needs to be presented correctly. • The correct analysis presentation format is to be utilized. • The presentation must represent the group’s paper accurately. • The references to scenes in the movie will truly illustrate the points made by the group. • Make sure to balance video clips with analysis. Style/Delivery (15 points) • Students submitted a report from the UNO Speech Center. • Small groups preparation and practice should be clearly evident in the presentation. • An Extemporaneous style of delivery should be utilized. The presentation is neither memorized nor read. • Eye contact should be made consistently with the audience. • Students add engagement with their voice during the delivery; avoiding monotonous delivery tone. Power Point (10 points) • The slides should be easy to follow. • The slides should be audience-friendly (i.e. not packed with too much information). • The Visual Aid should help walk the audience through the presentation. • Remember – The Visual Presentation is not meant to be a crutch to get you through a presentation. Slides are meant to help highlight key points you are trying to get across. • Do not put your ENTIRE presentation verbatim on Power Point slides. • The slides should be submitted as a separate Document?
